It affirms that queer love and joy have always existed, long before the world made room for them, and celebrates the particular privilege of having lived long enough to see that room widen. The evening will also honor resilience not as survival of hardship alone, but as an active, ongoing choice to love fully and stay unafraid. It closes by turning outward, in thanks — for community, for partnership, for the ordinary graces of a life arrived at, rather than merely endured.
