Building a Bridge: An Ecumenical Lenten Series

Based on Father Jim’s book Building A Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter Into A Relationship of Respect, Compassion, and Sensitivity.

The series consists of 90-minute sessions occurring in the first five weeks of Lent 2026. The class will meet in the parish hall of the Church of St. Paul in the Desert, 125 W El Alameda in Palm Springs on five consecutive Tuesday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:00 PM. Weeks 1 through 4 begin with a presentation that introduces the topic of the day. Small group discussions follow, which will focus on questions taken from the book and be guided by trained facilitators.

Each session concludes with a large group exercise. The entire series concludes in Week 5 with a whole group discussion, followed by a service specially designed for the occasion.
