Memorial Colonnade & Bell Tower Columbarium

A Sacred Place of Peace, Remembrance, and Hope

For generations, The Church of St. Paul in the Desert has stood as a beacon of faith, welcome, and spiritual refuge in the heart of Palm Springs. Nestled at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains in the historic Old Las Palmas neighborhood, our church is a place where the beauty of creation meets the enduring promise of resurrection.

As part of our ministry of care and remembrance, St. Paul’s offers sacred spaces for the inurnment of cremated remains. These spaces are set within the peaceful grounds of the church, surrounded by the natural beauty of the desert and the quiet strength of our historic architecture.

Our sacred grounds offer two destinations for inurnment:

The Colonnade

Cremated remains are reverently placed in individual niches within the Mission Revival Style columns of the Colonnade. Each niche is marked with a granite tile, engraved with the name of the loved one inured within. This peaceful walkway invites quiet reflection, with benches thoughtfully placed for prayer and remembrance.

The Bell Tower Memorial Garden

Cremated remains are also enclosed within the Bell Tower. Names of the departed are inscribed on granite tiles along the Memorial Garden Wall. The garden features the church’s original altar, where flowers and mementos may be lovingly placed. While the Bell Tower itself is a non-visitation area, the surrounding garden offers a tranquil space for contemplation and connection.

Cremation Container Size Guidelines

To ensure proper placement within our Columbarium, please note the following size limitations for cremation containers in both the

Colonnade and the Bell Tower Memorial Garden:

Maximum Height: 7 inches
Maximum Width: 5 inches
Maximum Depth: 9 inches

We kindly ask that all cremation containers conform to these dimensions. If you have questions about container specifications or need assistance, please contact our Parish Administrator.

“I am Resurrection and I am Life, says the Lord. Whoever has faith in me shall have life, even though he die. And everyone who has life, and has committed himself to me in faith, shall not die for ever.”
